Creating A New Slave Station in Wintr
First information in this group is Tag Count.
Good is the number of successul communication since connection has been activated.
Bad indicates failed communication count.

Receive Query: This field shows the queries that received from master and the registers that read and written by it.

In WinTr, multiple Modbus RTU slave connections can be created on different serial ports. Maximum connection count is the number of the serial ports on the computer. Com port count can be extended by USB-Serial converters.



In Modbus protocol, one network can contain maximum 247 slave station and this stations accessed by station addresses.

Device addresses are located in the devices and they assigned by programmer as unique addresses.

Because of the Master station will query the variables on the slave station, possible queried tags should be created in related Register Tables in Slave station. Therefore suitable Register Tables should be added to station.

Add group, which under the Register Table menu, contains Register Tables to add. If it is tried to add existing Register Table again an error message shown.

When right clicked on added Register Group, a menu opens. This menu contains only Register Table deleting command.

For example the tag's size which at the 40001 address modified to 32-bit, it's size will overflow to 40002 address(because address size is 16-Bit). If there is a tag created in 40002 address there will be a  message shown for correcting the conflict.

RTU Slave Toolbar:
RTU Slave toolbar contains a buttons for saving Tags in the Register Tables and appyling this configurations to other stations.

Save Button:
Saves Register tables that created in station with it's tags. Next station created automatically with this configuration. This will cause shown a message that indicates Tag names are the same and must be renamed.
New Button
New Button:
Removes current station(middle section) for creating new one. This operation will delete current station configuration.

Loads station configuration for current connection from the .rts extension file which saved by Save As button .
Save As Button
Save As Button:
Saved configuration can be reloaded by Open button.
Save As button, saves Register Tables and tags to the .rts extension file. This will show the File saving dialog box.

Modbus RTU Slave Toolbar
Save As Window
Modbus RTU Slave module located in the Connection Manager and used for communicating with Modbus protocol supported devices as Slave.
Modbus is widely used industrial communication protocol which is supported by most of the PLC's(even some sensors). Data is transferred between Master and Slave stations, which makes queries and which answers them respectively.
In Modbus RTU Slave tab, when right mouse button clicked in the white area at the left, a little menu box opens. A new connection is created by clicking Add in this menu.
Modbus RTU connections made through Com ports on Computer. Therefore maximum connection count is determined by Com port count on the computer.
Deleting the Station:

When right clicked on the RTU Station at the right, a menu opens. Selecting Delete in this menu will delete the Network.
Additionally, Station can be deleted from the Station Menu as described at bottom.
When right clicked on Station, a menu opens which contains Station and Register Table groups.
Properties, displays Properties window which contains station connection settings.
Modbus RTU slave station connection settings:

Serial Port, determines the serial port that will use for connecting the Network.

Baudrate, Parity, Stop Bit and Flow Control are settings for the serial communication.

Station address is the Slave address number of the WinTr SCADA. The number must be between 1 and 247.

32 Bit Data Word Order: 32 bit data made up by 2 unit 16-bit Word. In order to represent a same number with this data at two end of the connection, both side should evaulate same words as High and Low Order.
This section determines which Word will be evaluated as High and Low Order.



Modbus Addresses and Register Tables:

In Modbus standart, 2 type variable as a Bit and 16-Bit Word are addressed in the 4 table. Following table shows table addresses and read-write permissions.


Each variable expressed by a Data Address between 0 and 9998 inside it's Table.
For example first variables of the 4 tables has 0 Data Address. Variable's unique address determined by adding table's starting addresses(1, 10001, 30001 and 40001) to this number as an offset.

Tag List:

The list at the right side which contains created tags.
The Tags that read and write to PLC are created in this list. Additionally Tag values can be monitored and set in this list.

Register Table must be selected to adding or deleting Tags in this list.

If Register Table not selected, Tag values can be monitored or set but Tags can not be added or deleted.

By selecting Register Table only the tags, which belongs to that register table, are listed.
All Tags will be listed when Station selected.

When RTU Slave connection selected at the left, the Tags listed which belongs to last selected Register Table.

Tag Creating and Deleting Operations:
Bottom line of the Tag List will be ready for the creating Tag after selecting Register Table.

Adress Column: The address of the tag, that will be queried by the Master, should be entered this column. The Tag will be created by pressing Enter key after typing it's address.
Addresses can be entered in Hex representation by putting "h" at beginning. For example decimal 40001 address value can be entered in hex h9c41. Wintr will convert address to decimal representation automatically.

Tag Name Column: Each newly created Tag will be named with a unique name. This name can be changed by user with another unique name.



In Tag list, Rows can be selected by clicking on left side title of the Row. Multiple Rows can be selected by pressing Ctrl key while selecting rows or dragging the mouse.

Selected rows can be deleted by pressing Delete key on the keyboard or selecting Delete command from the right click menu on the related row.
Tag List menu opens when right mouse button clicked on Tag List.
On Tag List menu;

Insert, inserts new Tag above the selected Tag.

Cut, cuts selected row or rows.

Copy, copies selected row or rows.

Paste, pastes copies or cut tags.

Delete, deletes selected row or rows.

Monitoring and Setting Tag Values

Slave Tag values can be monitored and set in this tab. Network connection must be activated to do this.

Activating Network Connection

Created connection can be activated by clicking on Connect button that located in the Modbus RTU Slave toolbar or by clicking Connect button on the WinTr toolbar.

Connect Button that located on WinTr Toolbar activates all Networks.
Connect button on the Modbus RTU Slave tab activates only selected Network.
Tag values will be read from PLC adresses and shown in the Value column in both connection types.


To write a PLC, value must be entered to related row's Value column then pressed Enter key on the keyboard.

Disconnecting Network

If all networks activated by Connect button on the WinTr toolbar, all network connections will be disconnected if pressed again same button.

If Network connection activated by Connect button on the Modbus RTU Slave tab, next Disconnect button will only deactivate that network.
